Candidate Eligibility Requirements:
All candidates for La Salle County Public Offices must:

1. Be a Citizen of the United States of America
2. Be a Texas Resident for at least 12 months^a
3. Be a Resident of the County (for county-wide offices) or the Precinct for at least 6 months^a
4. Be Registered to Vote in the County (for county-wide offices) or the Precinct^a
5. Be at least 18 years of age^b
6. Meet additional requirements for Sheriff^c, Attorney^d or Constable^c
   

a. As of December 9, 2019, if candidate for Democratic or Republican Party Nomination. As of the date of nomination, if other party nominee for statewide, multi-county district, single-county district, county or precinct office. As of June 25, 2020, if independent candidate. As of November 3, 2020, if declared write-in candidate.

b. On first day of term to be filled at election. Note: A candidate might need to be age 18 at an earlier date than the first day of the term to be filled at election if the candidate is required to be a registered voter.

c. Must be either (1) eligible to be licensed under sections 1701.309, 1701.312, and 1701.502 of the Texas Occupations Code AND (a) has at least an associate’s degree, (b) is a special investigator under Article 2.122(a), Code of Criminal Procedure, or (c) is an honorably retired peace officer or honorably retired federal criminal investigator who holds a certificate of proficiency issued under Section 1701.357, Texas Occupations Code OR (2) an active or inactive licensed peace officer under Chapter 1701 of the Texas Occupations Code.

d. Must be a practicing Lawyer

Notice of Accepting Voters with Certain Disabilities:
Pursuant to Section 63.0013, Election Code, an election officer may give voting order priority to individuals with a mobility problem that substantially impairs the person's ability to move around.  A person assisting an individual with a mobility problem may also, at the individual's request, be given voting order priority.  Disabilities and conditions that may qualify you for voting order priority include paralysis, lung disease, the use of portable oxygen, cardiac deficiency, severe limitation in the ability to walk due to arthritic, neurological, or orthopedic inability to walk 200 feet without stopping to rest, or use of a brace, can crutch, or other assistive device.
